I Met Amy Sedaris Yesterday!
Yesterday while working at Food & Friends at 20th and Spruce, Amy Sedaris and Christopher McDonald walked in to purchase some beer around 4:45pm. Christopher looked pretty regular, but Amy had on a sweet New Kids On The Block tee and Ray-Ban tortoise shell prescription eye glasses (very much like mine, i might add).
Both tried to play it cool, until after about a minute of awkward staring at Amy, I said to her, ” I’m sorry, but are you Amy Sedaris?” To which she replied, “Yes, I am.”
I told her how much I loved Strangers With Candy and her.
She later returned with a different friend for tea and a lemon. This time she made a joke, which wasn’t too memorable since I can’t recall what it was about (something about our prices for clothing being too high?).
Anyway, she left and never returned during the night. There were reports of a Niel Patrick Harris also walking about the corner, but he never entered our store.
They are in Philly shooting scenes for The Best And The Brightest, a new film set in (surprise!) NYC. It’s about an elite kindergarten center or something. Cristina and I are also extras in one scene; we happened to be in Rittenhouse Park where they were filming at just the right time. They asked nearby observers to walk on set and fill in for a crowd of people watching a politcal candidate give a speech (in the film). We are both very close to the front and I’m sure I’m on camera for part of it. We did five takes. Hopefully they keep the scene!
