Hello, friends. How are you? It’s been a while.
I found this on 8106.tv, my favorite Mexican music blog and just had to repost it. It is a cover by Albert Plá of Lou Reed’s “Walk on the Wild Side.” It’s pretty great.
Albert Pla, according to Wikipedia, is a Spanish dude born in Barcelona. I am a big fan of the Velvet Underground and Lou Reed, so it was hard not to really dig this cover.
I love these screen prints from Philly-based Kenyonb. The theme is pop-culture satire, and he does a pretty good job. The above are my favorite three out of the bunch.
Electric Zoo Tickets!
Got my Electric Zoo tickets in the mail on Sunday! The countdown to a massive dance party begins. If you haven’t yet seen, Electric Zoo is a new two-day festival held in NYC featuring an impressive line-up of new and old DJ talent spreading over a wide genre from House, Electro, Disco, and Trance. Notable acts include: Tiga, James Murphy & Pat Mahoney, Frankie Knuckles & Andy Butler, David Guetta, Benny Benassi, Roger Sanchez, Danny Tenaglia, Lindstrom & Prins Thomas, Busy P, Deadmau5, James Holden, Richie Hawtin, Robbie Rivera, Axwell & Steve Angello, Yuksek, Hot Chip DJ Set, The Whip, and Dave P & JDH. And those are just the acts I know/care about.
Apparently this is the first of many future Electric Zoos to be held every labor day weekend in NYC. It’s put on by Made Event, they same group that hosts Miami’s Ultra Festival. Hopefully this will be one to remember.
Do I Have OCD?
Taken from Wikipedia’s entry on Compulsive Hoarding:
Digital hoarding:
Digital hoarding involves collecting files on one’s computer beyond the point of usefulness. Often, files can be acquired through Internet piracy at no monetary cost, leading to extraordinarily large collections. Examples include music collections, often beyond what ones enjoys or can listen to, and television shows, movies, and computer games. Hoarders, or “digital pack rats”,[7] often resort to buying optical media or new hard drives[8] to store their collections, rather than deleting what they may never use. Digital hoarders find it just as difficult to press delete as traditional hoarders find throwing items in the trash can, have the same feeling of clutter and chaos, feel that they might find the item useful “someday,” and similarly spend large amounts of time acquiring and organizing their collections.[9] However, unlike physical clutter, automated systems exist to organize digital clutter. Scientific American remarked that humanity’s propensity for data collection is growing at a rate faster than their ability to store it.
I was provoked to read this while watching A&E’s new show Hoarders, a spin-off of Obsessed, an OCD reality show in the style of Intervention. I found the above to almost exactly describe me to the point that it’s frightening.
Got this recently, it’s a new Zongamin Remix of Headman’s Dreampieces off the Dreampieces/Dirt EP. It’s quite good—it has a very dark disco element to it with a good percussion beat.

I Met Amy Sedaris Yesterday!
Yesterday while working at Food & Friends at 20th and Spruce, Amy Sedaris and Christopher McDonald walked in to purchase some beer around 4:45pm. Christopher looked pretty regular, but Amy had on a sweet New Kids On The Block tee and Ray-Ban tortoise shell prescription eye glasses (very much like mine, i might add).
Both tried to play it cool, until after about a minute of awkward staring at Amy, I said to her, ” I’m sorry, but are you Amy Sedaris?” To which she replied, “Yes, I am.”
I told her how much I loved Strangers With Candy and her.
She later returned with a different friend for tea and a lemon. This time she made a joke, which wasn’t too memorable since I can’t recall what it was about (something about our prices for clothing being too high?).
Anyway, she left and never returned during the night. There were reports of a Niel Patrick Harris also walking about the corner, but he never entered our store.
They are in Philly shooting scenes for The Best And The Brightest, a new film set in (surprise!) NYC. It’s about an elite kindergarten center or something. Cristina and I are also extras in one scene; we happened to be in Rittenhouse Park where they were filming at just the right time. They asked nearby observers to walk on set and fill in for a crowd of people watching a politcal candidate give a speech (in the film). We are both very close to the front and I’m sure I’m on camera for part of it. We did five takes. Hopefully they keep the scene!
